The Importance of Real-time Visibility
The folks over at Enterprise Management Associates have written a really great whitepaper titled “The Pragmatic Path to Achieving NAC Results: Essential Implementation, Process and Control Considerations.” One of the important things they mention is how helpful it is for IT managers to have automated, real-time visibility into endpoint policy violations. Not only does this help improve security, it also reduces impact on operational staff. With deep visibility into the endpoint security posture, IT managers are better prepared to develop and deploy NAC policies. Deep visibility of network endpoints must also include periodic discovery to find new policy violations and new exceptions to continually improve NAC policies, and reduce workload on operational staff.
